UKPC Parking Ticket Gallagher Park Dundee

Hello,
I was issued with a ticket back in July at Gallager Retail Park in Dundee - I parked for 20 mins and forgot to display a ticket (the first 2 hours are free). I came on here to get advice and at the time I read a post about appealing the charge which I did by writing a letter. In doing so I've inadvertently admitted to being the driver and obviously the appeal was denied. I have since received numerous letter from UKPC, Debt Recovery Plus and Zenith which I have ignored but today I received one from TLT Solicitors again saying if I don't pay within 14 days they are going to recommend issuing court proceedings etc. The letter goes on to talk about a Sheriff Court decree, arresting earnings etc. Has anyone else had similar experience to this - are they still bluffing or now that it's a solicitors letter is it more serious? :-(

It's not going to happen, ukpc are utterly useless and have to date not issued any claims that I'm aware of. You've shot yourself in the foot with admitting you were driver as there is no keeper liability in Scotland so unless you tell them they cannot issue a claim.

Still they can't take court action without a valid letter before claim, so keep an eye on that. And it must be in ukpc name nobody else's
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

In Scotland you simply IGNORE the bams - Only respond to properly issued court papers but don't hold your breath for that to happen! :)

What happened when you complained to the Retail Park about all this harassment then, like you would? Like everyone here does (see the sticky threads).

  • I followed the Step by Step guide on MSE which suggested writing a letter to appeal - in hindsight I shouldn't have done that but I was trying to deal with it properly and thought that would be the best course of action. I have not contacted the retail park directly yet but this may be my next move as I am starting to feel bullied!

I would. Why not, especially with Christmas coming and you can say you are minded never to shop there again.

  • That's where I got my ticket - I'm having similar issues and ignoring them as everyone has advised me to do. I too appealed and wish I hadn't, but we have to just keep going on ignoring them. I'm planning to write a strongly worded letter to the retail park owners so why don't you do the same, if they get two in quick succession it might be even better.

I parked in the same retail park to get something from M&S. I'm not from Dundee, it was dark and I didn't see the signs saying to display a ticket. I'm just used to free car parks, and this one IS free, so I'm a tad confused. I can't read what the fee is for early payment, but it looks like £80. The post 14 day fee is £100, which seems a bit steep for a FREE car park.

I'm imagining ignoring it is the way to go?

Yes but only because it's Scotland - search the parking forum for that word and read the NEWBIES sticky thread about it too; watch the Watchdog video there.

  • I was in the exact same place this Saturday past-not a local and thought it was free parking...went into TK maxx for 25 mins and came out to a 60 quid fine slapped on my windscreen.

Now....This didn't feel right to me so instead coming on here to find out about them, I stupidly went onto their appeals website and proceeded to fill out their form with all my details. :wall:

However....the form didn't appear to submit as I was over the 1000 character (called them parasites 111 times..not really) so I think I might have got lucky. Tried again after reducing the text and there still seemed to be an issue-at least I never had a "submitted" confirmation and things seemed to freeze

Now, does my position change in Scotland if it turns out that they have this form after all?

Is it worth an anonymous call to them tomorrow to enquire if they received an appeal for my reference number, just to clarify my position? Obviously won't disclose anything in doing so.

Hopefully they don't and I can just ignore them....but I'm concerned that they have all my info now. _pale_

Any help on this is greatly appreciated!!!

You didn't get a fine. And you should ignore and not contact them at all.
