The diagnosis was that i was stressed and that i just needed time, he said to self cert for this week, then if i am still feeling the same, go back for him to decide the next step. And yes i am a driver, in something much bigger than a taxi. And yes i have the same view as you and i am concerned about causing an accident.

Are you in a union? If so, ask them for advice.

Do you feel less stressed now? You could ask your GP for a fit note anyway as that is likely to stop the calls from work.

Edited to ask: when is the funeral? Are you going?

Do you know which bits of your life have triggered the stress reaction?

I am in the union however they have the same view as to the manager it seems. I still am stressed and not sleeping etc, however havent been sick so maybe improving.

Yes i will be going not sure when it is as of yet, and no trigger apart from the death and then feeling no one cared and people winding me up/bullying.

Sounds like your local union rep is an a r s e. The HQ will have a helpline number. Phone it.

Also other drivers were making inappropriate comments about his death. For example calling me a murderer, saying i had worked him to death and such like comments, which did little for my stress levels and the guilt i was already feeling.

Personally, I'd be looking for another firm to work for. Those comments are absolutely astounding.

Call the main union office and ask for advice.

I think you are going to need time and support as stress does not tend to disappear so quickly.

When you get back you will still have the questions and comments from the other drivers... That will be tough and you will need support.

You also need to be aware that some drugs - if your GP thinks that is the way to go - take several weeks to kick in but may make you feel poorly for a couple of weeks whilst your body adjusts. You may not be able to drive if you have a reaction. Working with Occ Health should mean you are dealing with someone that will understand this.

You could also speak to someone on the Mind helpline for advice, or look at their website.

i told him i was willing to see oc health no problem. But after two days is it fair to be talking about referring me already?

It could be a good thing - get extra input and help for the whole situation early on, rather than waiting until relationships between you and your manager have got worse.
