Edinburgh to Newark flight prices?

Hello,

I am looking to book flights from Edinburgh to Newark, best i see direct is £549. Do airline often has Jan sales or is this a pretty good deal anyway? Not flying until late April so do have time...

There will be a sale starting immediately after Christmas but United Airlines have no competition from Edinburgh so there is usually little incentive, except for a lack of bookings, to reduce fares because you have no one else to book with. That is why fares from London are usually much lower because of the level of competition. Having said that the fare is good one at the moment, it only saves around £15-20 at the moment to fly via London which will add a total of around 4 hours to the journey. So, no harm in waiting four weeks but do not expect a huge reduction unless the day you want to travel, no one else does!

£549 is not rock-bottom on that route but still pretty good. And of course, there's no guarantee prices will go down between now and April. Unless I was very flexible with dates I'd be tempted to buy at that price.
