    There is no point in arguing this with you, as you clearly don't have any retail experience.

    No, you're right, only spent my entire working life in retail, and also helping out at the family's shop prior to that.
    All in all, about 10 years of retail experience, from general dogsbody to store manager.
    Also, backing my claims up with the actual legislation, which doesn't require experience of working in retail anyway.

    Back tracking on what now? Did I say that it was perfectly reasonable in the OP's case? No. So nothing to back track on. I simply pointed out that a) your claim was bovine excrement and b) a situation where reduction in use under 12 months would be suitable.

    I'm afraid that's not the case for an item that is only 5 months old. The retailer can only choose between a full refund, or replacement.

    Which law says this? The Sale of Goods Act doesn't.
