For your proposal to buy a rental property via your Trust, post on the Housing forum and the members there will detail the pros and cons of rental properties as a form of income, anything from the huge degree of legislation that a landlord needs to follow, capital gains tax if you sell it in future, risks like non-paying tenants and voids etc. They can make you aware of the risks, issues and returns.

There are organisations out there that help those with disabilities into employment, though I always seem to forget their name. They can help you with retraining and finding employment. I know you feel your health or age are against you when it comes to retraining, particularly as you clearly enjoyed your original job, but do look seriously into this as letting out property can be very stressful, particularly for the novice, and even if you find a reputable agency to do the letting management for you.
