Actually, I'm inclining towards Nationwide, since I have just realised that as a long standing mortgage holder, I can get a Loyalty saver account at a preferential rate and I have no other financial involvement with that group.

Do these faults affect RBS credit cards as well as debit cards, or are the CCs separate?

Perhaps consider the best account/debit card that can be used abroad then it will have a secondary purpose if you travel.

For example I think a Nationwide one does free cash withdrawals and reasonable exchange rates.
