Well they didnt want to let me go so forced me to do some extra shifts, then tried to offer me a different shift contract, then asked me to do relief work ... you know the usual stuff ...

Hey all, been working over christmas and now have a few days off so getting ready to start my studying for the exam
Havnt managed to pay any pennies to the mortgage but did work out that we cleared £12,000 off the mortgage last year which was fantastic, not expecting to clear anything like that this year due to being a student etc but if we can over pay by a little bit I will still be very happy.
Have decided that due to my lack of earning potential next year I will be donating £1k of my tax free allowance to Mr El, maybe even more depending on what exactly the government ( UK are allowing) that should bring in £200 extra throughout the year, it might not be much but it's better in my pocket i spose.
No other plans for the next few days apart from studying and spending time with family
Have a good one everyone xxxx0 -
Have also been thinking ( part in thanks to GG's thread on the pensions board)
Realistically what are my future hopes, dreams and goals, when i first started my 100 month challenge, it was get out of debt and have some savings, this was a big improvement on the clear my debt plan of previous. However, it seems to have morphed even more, it seems to have developed into a kinda F.I.R.E idea ( financial independence retire early) the dream of Financial Independence is something way beyond my understanding at present I don't know how I would do it, but I now know I want to. I do know I have always wanted to retire early, I even started a pension with that in mind many moons ago, However, throughout the years and lack of decent paid employment that fell by the way side but the dream never left me, i'm finding as I am getting older the dream is coming to the fore front of my thoughts, ideas forming and plans seem to be hatching, i'm finding I am asking myself questions like " how much will we need per year to have a good retirement " and " how much do i need so that it is financially safe to draw down per year to ensure funds dont deplete " ( 4% but i'm thinking 3.5% for safety) and ye olde " how much do i need to save "
I do wonder though where would be the right place to have these thoughts, the MFW board is very welcoming and supportive but its goal is for people to be MF ( and that is the way is should be ) The pensions board ... wellllll ... it's very helpful for questions facts and figures but i get the feeling that whilst some welcome diaries etc and these diaries are helpful it really is not a suitable place for all. The savings board, is similar but slightly different from the pensions board, and I dont feel for me that would be the place to have thoughts and meanderings floating about. So will need to give it some thought as to how i want this to progress.
Anyone else find themselves asking these questions ?0 -
Stay here. It's safe here. Look what happened when I ventured out .A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I know I read it from the start ( have been lurking a lot recently) and was pulling my hair out, there really are some strange idea's of what exactly happens to a person when they join the MFW family, that's not in anyway meant to demean the good that the pension board does as it really can be a great resource ... but the accusations of binge dieting like mortgage paydowns was very ... well it was very strange ...
dont get me wrong I am very happy here and i have a long way to go till we are mortgage free ... but for example i am finding that my concentration is naturally moving on from the mortgage as thats now kinda under control ... so do wonder if this is the right place for my ramblings
Like Goldiegirl, GG, Tilly, Ed and Kc ( and I have no doubt many more) plans are evolving, moving forward into a new direction.
I have till July 2019 till my 100 month challenge is complete and i am really stunned about how things have moved forward, life has changed beyond belief, I have a feeling when the 100 months are completed I may find myself printing off parts of my journey and keeping them as reminders of how far I have travelled and I still have a long long way to go0
