Wage slip arrived today, it's my first basic wage in over a year so I wasn't sure how much I would get due to the tax changes last year, I got £50 more than expected which is handy
but I also noticed that between the tax and national insurance I paid just over £50 to the government, so with that in mind I will be putting a good few hundred into the pension( the money I was previously putting into an ISA )
I will this month not only be tax dark and national insurance neutral ( as per above .. I am aware I still paying national insurance and have no problem with this as I will receive a pension and health care) and I will in actual fact start to neutralise Mr El's
I have also worked out that the money I will be paying into my pension ... Not taking into account that it will grow, plainly what I have put in will give me a return of £18 a year when I draw upon my pension, £18 isn't much, but it's better than £0 and if I can keep it up in ten months time it will be £180 a year0 -

There is hoe for me yet then El, I have about 4 teeny tiny pension pots at the momentneed to try and sort that out as soon as I'm able.
You're doing really well though El, especially with your basic wage being more than you thought.. :jGE 36 *MFD may 2043

Hey Tatty lovely to see you
hope your doing well ?
I'm kinda trying to work on the assumption that every wee bit I manage to save without having to sacrifice my current life will help me have a better life when the time comes to retire, retirement interests me in the sense that finally I will have time to devote myself fully to my choices
Not that I'm wishing my life away or anything lol
Have you had a look at your four wee pots ? I have a few wee pots myself, when they get added up though they atleast help give me a wee bit of money0 -

It can be really, really frustrating trying to visualise the big intangible plans like retirement. It's even worse for loonies attempting to reach financial independence in a shorter than usual period (I'd like to be in this camp).
I'm trying to think about it in smaller steps now. The recent comments re. the budget and 'pensioners buying Lamborghinis' got me thinking - what car would my pension buy? I think that a 'car timeline' might be a fun way to express investment growth. I think I could currently afford a Dacia :rotfl:0 -

Or a Ferrari F430 Spider but they're rather vulgar .
Now, to invest a bit more so I can afford the insurance :rotfl:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

I bought a hybrid in 1993. It's still going strong. Wouldn't want to do the Tour de France on it but it does the job okay.Debt LBM (08/09) £11,641. DEBT FREE APRIL 2021.

Hey all,
well finally finally finally we have some movement in the house, Mr El applied the third coat of the polyurathane tonight, we are buzzed oot oor nuts with the fumes, ive had to wear my migraine glasses for days its been that bad, been swallowing the migraleve like they are going out of fashion and no doubt will need to for another wee while as well....
Mr El has taken tomorrow off so that we can hang the curtains back up and maybe get the furniture into the room and then its slowly time to get our house back to where it should be as it is doing my head in.
I have started a dark tax challenge with some other people over on facebook so have been thinking of ways to reduce my tax and my wee head is getting all excited with the prospect
I'm loving this idea of breaking my pension down a la Mr Ed... wonder what i could buy with my latest payment ... will need to have a think
In other news seeing as how it has been officially mentioned on the book of faces, i have been given an unconditional acceptance to the course i applied for, part of me is happy, part of me is thinking do i really want to go back, but then i dont want to stay where i am either so atleast going to uni will give me options
right better head have a friend on the phone, he was due to get his thyroid removed today but his heart wasnt up to the task so we have been chatting and trying to calm him down as his heart was sitting at 170 Beats per min and that aint good0
