Scottish Power say I can't have Twinheat - any other storage heater booster tariffs?
Options
I had an email from Scottish Power telling me all about their range of tariffs for electric heating (night storage heaters), including one called Twinheat which offers cheap electric from 9pm-1.00am and 12.00pm to 3.00pm.
That would be perfect for me as I work from home (and stay up late!) and need a boost of heat in the evenings. However, having rung them up and spent 50 minutes on the phone, apparently the tariff is only available in Liverpool and Wales?! I am in Hampshire.
Does anyone know of another tariff designed for storage heaters that gives an afternoon boost of heat?

You might have to trawl around the various suppliers and ask what they can do - the only other one I know of that's similar is E10 but that seems to be Scotland or around Manchester.
There are a few legacy tariffs & metering arrangements still around but they do seem to be attached to the old Electricity Board areas which have been taken over by the Distribution Network Operator. It's likely that the DNO dictates what sort of supplies are available in an area and the suppliers can then only offer tariffs based on what available. You could try asking your DNO what's around in your area but you might end up having to have a meter change It looks like your DNO is Scottish & Southern Electricity (SSE) - you could try themNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Twinheat A
Low rate, 4hrs between 03.00hrs and 07.00hrs & 3hrs between
13.30hrs and 16.30hrs
Peak means at all other times.
Twinheat B
Low rate, 4hrs between 21.00hrs and 01.00hrs & 3hrs between
12.00hrs and 15.00hrs
As matelodave says its an old regional electricity board legacy tariff. Essentially its E7+. Its the same 7 hours as E7 but a different split time. More expensive than E7 but cheaper than E10.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
