New Years Resolutions anyone?

Options
Hi all,

I have been thinking for a couple of days how I will try and better myself in the new year? Obviously I'm not a nasty person and law abiding etc, but I mean for me there are things I would like to hone. I know some people will say why does it have to be new year in order to do this? Quite frankly it doesn't, I'm Constantly starting new things, but this new year symbolises a new start for me. I'm in a new relationship with a fantastic man, and I'm looking forward to our future with DD.

As some of you may know I suffer from generalised anxiety, panic disorder and slight OCD. This new year I will try my very best to stop overthinking. I will try to make jogging a regular thing (instead of every other week). I will try to batch cook as much as possible to help me in the evenings.

Have anyone else been pondering this?

  • No, not me. If I want to do something I just decide to get on and do it. I've never made a New Year's Resolution in my life, so I can't see the point of starting now. Other people might find they prefer to make a decison and have a plan in advance about how they are going to keep to it and good for them

It does no harm to have a plan and I always like the idea of a fresh start. I feel the same after a holiday/start of new school year in September too. So I get two bites of the cherry!;) I've successfully lost weight and cut back on wine, both with the help of excellent threads on here.

    You've set me thinking OP.

Funnily enough, I was thinking today that I ought to do a bit more to use my mind. I've plenty of qualifications so that's not the issue. My reading habits seems to be lurch between reading reference material and chick lit/TAB type stuff.

I was thinking about a book club. I'm not ready to join a local one as I'd hate to be asked to recommend a book. Does anyone know if an online book club exists? I'd like to start as a sort of lurker and then contribute when I got into it more.

And then there's exercise.....no virtual solution to that!:rotfl:

Resolutions are a great idea. Just not at New Year. You're far more likely to be successful in your aims if you start at any other time of the year apparently.

I haven't really thought too much about it yet.........

but last years was a general 'lets have a better year than this one' (2012 was awful for us and even worse for some of our friends). Whilst it's been an ok year for us, some of my close friends have really gone through the mill and certainly wont want to revisit 2013 in a hurry......... so a nice quiet 'nothing really happens' year would be fantastic.

Oh, and lose weight............ one can but dream ;)

I have news years, mid year and nearly always monthly resolutions. I start them all the time. Sometimes I am good with them and all works, other times they fail. I like the idea of them at any time of the year but in particular new year because it feels more like a fresh start. For next year my plan is to loose some weight, clear debt and do some exercise. Probably similar to large majority of the country.
