Dh was made redundant at 54, but they had plenty of warning and he was glad to have been 'picked'. It was a case of not being worth it to jump, as you got no extra 'reward' for offering to go. He 'took a couple of minths off' (grrr!) and landed another job within 6 months of the redundancy. I had expected him to have to downshift his ideas, but the company chose him over far younger candidates.

Hope your colleague can adjust her spending - and also find another post.

Oh what a little beauty Jelly is! Gorgeous pic!

So sorry to hear about your colleague - she must have got a really terrible shock after being with the company all that time. :-( Will she get a good redundancy package to tide her over for a while? I certainly hope she will get looked after since she's worked there 24 years (this is the marge simpson icon but I just get a row of text LOL!http://static.moneysavingexpert.com/images/forum_smilies/speechless-smiley-040.gif

Beautiful Jelly, thank you for sharing.

As for colleague has Company gone through the consultation period with all staff and identified the reasons why they have chosen this particular member of staff? Sorry to sound bossy, but the bosses can't just say 'she is being made redundant'.....

Hey peeps. Sorry been busy making lunches for the week, packing my work bag, and still need to go and wash my hair yet! Also discovered both of my *good* pairs of work trousers when I was hanging out the washing to dry overnight. Least I wasn't lazy and didn't find them in the morning :rotfl:

scuba thanks for popping in!! It seems a fun way of doing things, but all I can think of when I look at that coat is... uuuurgh your face was just above all that muck!!:rotfl:

hummingbird - as far as I know, you press : e e k : and it pops up  - maybe MSE is having a moment!! Thanks for taking the time to put it in bless!! xx

Apple, Stepup, Billie, Lucky - Boss told everyone today as agreed with colleague yesterday. They are in a 2 week consultation period where colleague can come back with ideas of what job role she can take on to save her position, but colleague has already said that isn't what she wants. She like *her* job, and unfortunately her job has been a lot of faffing around, especially for the last 2 months. Yes, she genuinely has been replaced by software. Work phones are all iPhones, (feel very bad, I was the one who persuaded Boss to get them instead of blackberries) and they are all dictating into Siri near word perfect, so her job has just been to check grammar and random words. It deals with Northern boss (Hartlepool) and whispering boss (kids in bed) and Scottish colleague equally well. So she is left with cleaning the office, creating new files (1-2 a week), archiving (much the same) and.. faffing. I won't ever know the ins and outs of it but I would imagine she is getting a huge payout. And good for her. I hope she uses it wisely and gets to work in a new role as soon as possible. Her husband is well paid, and high up in his workplace so whilst they will struggle, it isn't critical. She has been talking about buying herself a car, and also buying a Buy to Let property forever so if they start to figure out their spending hopefully they will do fine.

Have put together 4 tubs of green lentil and veggie curry with rice for work. Will freeze nicely for next week so am taking them all to work to pop in the freezer. Still got 2 more portions of the curry left in the fridge. Very tasty :) and also have 5 125g bags of cooked green lentils frozen due to my inability to weigh and measure effectively. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: - will make quick meals :)

Am off to shower and try and pick my mood up before tomorrow. Hate review day. Worse still with the news we got today, and even worse considering colleague and her grievance. :(

    Night guys xx

Haha love the image of Jellytot sliding around like a penguin how cute :D Great pic too, the ringlets are back to their glorious full awesomeness! She is so unique with that hair, it must get her attention everywhere. A lady at work popped in with her baby today who is 14 months old now (a girl) and I was the only one she liked *smug*.. there is a sense of achievement when a baby or small child takes a shine to you!
ANyways keep on keeping on- good luck tomorrow- you will be absolutely fine in your review meeting, don't sweat it at all! Let us know what they say, and I hope the blue-funk quickly lifts when it's all over, it probably will:) :heart2: x

Shall be thinking of you tomorrow, you'll be fab :D rising above grievance colleague and general edginess created by the redundancy.

Good to hear you've found some clothes since Kondo-Fest :D

And Jelly is just too cute for words :smileyhea . I spent years with ye olde Braun Independent gas tongs trying to get curls like that to no avail :rotfl:

You mean I've decided not to kondo anything of mine until I have found a magic pot of money to replace it with hmm Ali... :rotfl:

Levi the curls bounced back as soon as I released it from the bobble fest :rotfl: - all it takes is bit of water. Not a product in sight. She will hate it when she is older.. I detested mine, to the point that I have straightened it and frizz-eased and bobbled it so that now it doesn't do ^that any more without masses of product. The problem with us is that there is SO MUCH of it as well as it being curly, and it is also quite thick strands. I was told the average person has between 1-3 hairs per follicle. Jelly & I are between 4-7 :rotfl:

Ali I'd need the tongs... I have seen a hilarious youtube video by a young blonde girl, trying to show people how to curl their hair. Hers is long and blonde... She curls it for too long, and as she tries to take the tongs away, the hair just comes away from her head with it. And she is left with tongs with a massive chunk of blonde hair, and a piece, right at the front, where it has burned off about an inch down her head. The look of absolute horror.. and she just can't speak.. and she keeps looking at it and looking at her head.. and then she just ups and runs shouting for her mum :rotfl: I shouldn't laugh but she probably made way more money from the fail than she would if she had done it properly :rotfl:

Yes I shall rise above. But every year I get these nerves and not every year is there all this drama. It is at 11am.

Am showered, and pampered and in jamas, and ready for bed.

    Night all xoxox
