Yep pretty positive 'unnecessary obstruction of the highway.' FPN - which is endorsable. Also includes parking on curbs :o

Generally, it's if the police have issued it, then it'll be an endorsement, is that right? As a general rule? I mean, they can't be bothered unless it's an actual crime, can they? I know I'd not want to do a traffic warden's job if I could actually arrest people and that.

You don't get a 'parking fine' (which is dealt with by a PCN) for those type of offences. They are dealt with differently using FPNs which are issued by the police.

Were you driving towards the speed camera when it flashed, if it did you're home free :T

One of the GATSO cameras near me is set to flash when oncoming cars exceed the limit, it often takes a photo of me when I'm driving past late at night yet I've never received a fine nor am I ever likely to ;)

Not clear enough? If you park on any of those areas - it's illegal and you get a fine & penalty points.

I am very clear thanks, except for a couple of parking offences that are issued by the Police or PCSO's others are non endorsable!

Pedestrian crossing offences PC30 and leaving a vehicle in a dangerous position. MS10

Back on topic its wait and see time OP.

On the speed awareness course I went on they said that less than 20% of the cameras are actually live, they move the live positions periodically so people don't guess where they are.

The OP has a fair chance nothing will happen.

I once got flashed by a camera in Renfrew (near Glasgow). That was at least 6 years ago - no NIP yet. :)
  • ok - my mind is a little clearer now on what I should expect - i guess i'll be weighing up the options when the letter arrives, or rather hopefully, if it arrives at all!

thanks to all the answers and opinions given!

With regard to the speed awareness course, you will be offered this instead of points. It's about £80 and is four hours long, but is actually really good - I was dreading it thinking I would be patronised for an afternoon, but came away thinking everybody should have to sit it, not just speeders (I'm talking about you, people who don't indicate!). So don't worry about the course, it's actually really good.

Points don't go on your license and so won't affect your insurance, but if you get caught again within two years you'll get a fine and points, so be careful.
I thought it was 3 years.
