customer compliance office interview

I received a letter this morning from the DWP.
Asking me to attend an interview doesn't say much only as follow's
why it is essential that you attend this interview:-

It is essential that you attend this interview and bring the documents requested in this letter with you to the interview. The interview has been arranged because your circumstances may have changed and we need to ensure your payments are correct.
When you claimed benefit you agreed to tell us immediately if the circumstances relating to your benefit entitlement changed.

My circumstances haven't changed they are still the same, the only thing I can think of is when my father passed away he left me, my brothers and sister some money and it has shown up on my bank statement. Could some one re-ashore me this might be why they want to see my. I suffer with depression and lower back problems which I have had for the last 4 years, having this letter come through the post has set my nerves off and my head is going round 50 to the dozen ....

    Hi

    1. They do these routinely, to see if circumstances have changed.
    2. You do actually need to tell them about the money from your dad, even if it is less than the £6K limit. Not that it will make any difference if it is below the limit but it is wise to tell them. Otherise they might think you have been working.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

What benefit are you on and what documents have they asked you to bring? That might give you a clue.

I called them today to find out what the interview was about the lady on the phone said it was something to do with my husbands private pension ?
They have asked me to bring bank statements and my hubby paperwork regrinding his pension that's all .

Does your husband work or has he been added to your claim?
  • No he doesn't work and i think it's a joint claim.
He did a bit of agency work but only did 3 days i wonder if it could be that, and to be honest with everything that's being going on i did forget to tell them. But i will tell her all this when we go on the 17/12/13. I'm very worried now and wonder what they will do ? I don't think my nerves can take all this stress :(
  • Sounds like she's told you what its about (the private pension). Was the pension declared when you made the application?

But yes you should probably just be honest about the other two things as well (the inheritance and the three days work). Otherwise you'll just get called in again.
  • yer they knew about his pension from the start. But yer I will tell them everything don't want to be going though this again don't think my head could cope with it all.
But thank you all for your help I will keep you up dated xxx

I haven't slept a wink all night this letter from the Customer Compliance office is really playing on my mind,
I don't know weather to give them another call and ask if I can speak to the person whom will be doing the interview.
And see if she can give me some indication why I to be interviewed ?

Please any advice would be helpfull x

The best advice is just to relax; get together all the documents and prepare simple explanations of everything around the pension. I don't think they will tell you any more about what it is about than you already know.
