Need some advice on Jobseekers and work benefits

Hiya Guys went to attend a interview yesterday and got offered the job I said yes to the even though its a long distance currently live in Bradford, West Yorkshire and the role is in Skipton, North Yorkshire ( Will be moving head offices to leeds in Jan/Feb ) so that will benefit me much more the trip is 36 miles round daily which I will have to make using public transport so A rail card and Bus Pass will be my means of getting to the job.

I tried to do a quick look on google to see if anything exsisted for people and it appears it may have done in 2010 but I cant find nothing more recent so Im putting it out to you guys here to see if u know of anything I can claim.

Currently unemployed claiming JSA for a few weeks, I have been claiming a long time but missed a signing so had to make a rapid reclaim a month or so ago, also the starting salary is 13.5k am i likely to get any help in housing benefits/council tax or am i missing anything else I could claim for?

If you are still claiming JSA & are with the work programme - they will help you with purchasing a bus pass & rail card if you ask them - if you are not with the work programme you could try asking your advisor at the Job Centre - they will usually help out for the first week or so - generally until you are due to be paid your wages.

For anything you may be able to claim you might want to pop your details into turn2us - google it - i'm not allowed to post links apparently!
This will give you an estimate of what you could claim.

    Hope this helps.

If you turn down the job you're likely to be sanctioned and receive no jsa for up to six months.

Yeah I'm aware if I was refeared via the jc I could be sanctioned I found the job via my own means but if I can't live and afford to get to the job it really is pointless they should be willing to help it gets me off there system

This is very over-optimistic advice, it is highly likely that neither the Work Programme provider nor the Jobcentre will provide any help with travel costs at all.
