Trying to send a refund

I have a problem with paypal & ebay. I am trying to give a buyer a refund but I don’t have any money in my paypal balance. On Sunday I sent the money from my bank (via faster payments) to paypal using the bank details provided to me by paypal. Ebay says that I need to issue the refund by tomorrow but I can’t because the money isn’t showing. Does anyone know what I can do or what happens if I don’t refund by tomorrow? I have sent paypal an email but I’m waiting for a response.
Thanks.
Thanks.

If you send a refund when the money isn't in your paypal account, the buyer gets sent an e-cheque which paypal fund from your bank account or credit card. (whichever is your normal funding source)
The buyer will get the cleared money about a week later but it shows as pending in their paypal account immediately.0 -
I can't send any sort of refund though because its saying I don't have enough funds.

I have sent money to my paypal via my bank account and its not showing up, it was sent by faster payments so it should have been there yesterday. I don't understand why we can't just send a refund via a card payment.:rotfl:0 -
Have you actually clicked Refund? Or are you thinking that as it's showing no money in there that it won't let you?
Please don't take it that I'm being funny, but it should let you refund even if the money isn't there, as already mentioned.0 -
No its ok, I have been selling on ebay for years on and off but this is the first time I have ever had to deposit money into my paypal. Every other time I have had to do this I've always had money in there. I have noticed that it says the name on your paypal account needs to be the same as your bank account so maybe this is what the problem is.
I will try and copy what it says below:
There isn't enough money in your PayPal balance to issue a full refund. Please add funds to your PayPal balance to issue a full refund or add a bank account and issue a refund by debiting money directly from your bank account.
You cannot refund this payment right now because you do not have enough funds in your PayPal account. Please link and confirm a bank account to initiate this refund.:rotfl:0 -
OK I have now confirmed my bank account and its still not working. I guess I'll just have to take whatever happens because It wont let me send this refund by tomorrow. I just don't understand all of this.:rotfl:0

That's odd, I haven't come across that before. Have you logged out of your paypal and logged in again see if that does the trick?
Otherwise, I would give Paypal a call today, myself. I phoned them last week about a problem I had and they were very helpful and resolved it for me.
Hope you get it sorted.0 -
Nope it still won't work, it now says:
Your refund must not exceed your available balance. If you have funds in another currency balance, you may want to consider transferring funds from other currency balances.
I will try and call them later today. Thanks for your help.:rotfl:0 -
I have just seen this on the ebay help page. Will this refund the buyer and will I get my final value fee back?
Note: If a buyer opened a case for an item you sold, you should go to the Resolution Centre to issue a refund.
This refund method is only available for 60 days after the end of the transaction. If the transaction you want to refund occurred more than 60 days ago, follow these instructions:
Click the Send Money tab located at the top of most PayPal pages.
Enter the information required to send money to the buyer.
Click the Continue button.
Review the information on the Confirmation page for accuracy, then click Send Money to complete the refund.:rotfl:0 -
You need to agree to a refund via the Ebay claim.0
