British gas problems with direct debit

is anyone else having trouble with British Gas?

i reduced my direct debit payment online to £120 per month, this had the effect of increasing it to £205!

The gas part is £120 and electricity is added to that even though on their website there is nowhere that i can see that enables you to set amounts separately.

in spite of being assured by their advisor 2 weeks ago that only £120 would be taken, i am now down by £85.

i have emailed them and am waiting for a reply but just wondered if anyone else had tried to change their payments.
