  • I believe that halifax have there own internal credit scoring system( i may be completely wrong here) Its recomened that after items are removed from your credit file ie experian/equifax you wait at least a month after before all the systems are udated. Im not quite sure whats happend with your case but can they not tell you what you have failed on?
  • I had the same thing happen to me with Nationwide!!!

I went and stood in my local branch, demanding to be informed as to what the issue was. After 3 hours of phonecalls made by the branch manager and their in house mortgage advisor it was found that the "internal check fail" was that they claimed to never have received my proof of deposit. Fortunately I had taken to carrying around with me all the information that had been repeatedly requested, so I handed over the original cashiers statement from my bank showing the funds available, along with the signed and dated photocopy taken by nationwide only 2 weeks earlier, and insisted that I accompany the manager to her fax machine to watch it get sent through internal channels, all whilst keeping the chap on the phone to ensure it was received at the other end. My deposit was only £5k and I could prove my savings account had £8k in it!
Literally the second it was received the chap on the phone said he could approve the mortgage.
I was absolutely elated but also horrified and furious that 3 months of paperwork, 2 weeks before I was due to complete, could have cost me my house because THEY misplaced information that I had already provided AND could easily provide again!

DO NOT accept the internal fail. Go to a branch, and sit there until they tell you what they need! Refuse to leave until the problem is resolved. Do not take no for an answer, do not allow them to fob you off with numbers to call. Express how urgent this is and demand that they make the calls for you! They will get through on direct lines and are taken more serioulsy than when we have to ring the standard helplines. Internal advisors have nothing to fear from a hacked off member of the public, they do however have to fear the Branch Manager of your town! ;)

We both have never had any credit other than the usual monthly outgoings for credit cards. No loans or anything no defaults. Earn in total >100k.

Went back to the mortgage advisor and they said not to worry - the reason being not having taken any credit, they are not picking up enough on their files. I did mention my CC with Halifax(its been up and running for less than a year - very occasional use, mainly abroad).
Reassured us that, more documents should sort things out.

Not sure what to think of these.

That would be my next step and thank you for the guidance. Surprisingly got a call from a person in the local branch wanting to know if i would be interested to open a current account.
I mentioned - get my mortgage and i will switch; to which he suggest applying in the branch and we will get it sorted!!!
Had to decline, as the mortgage advisor had already gone through fair bit.
