I have to say you may have found someone helpful at bridgefords, but from my experience (with 2 different branches), I wouldn't go with them.

Are you applying for the mortgage for a house you have already put in an offer for? or is this a mortgage in principle you have been turned down for.

We are 1st time buyers and we have put an offer in for the house, but now i cant get a mortgage. Knowing what i do now i should have done it the other way around i suppose.

I was the same but it was rather painless. I have 3 credit cards with limits totaling £13k and balances of ~£6k (£5k of which is on long term 0% BT), I also still have 2 student accounts aside from my main current account which have been in the OD since I graduated totaling£2k. I thought I had too much credit available and too much debt outstanding, but my credit reports are clean and was given an offer from Halifax within days of application.
  • I was also wondering if anybody could actually recomened a broker that could help me out?

    Cheers

This should be achievable, but my view would be to find a broker recommended for this sort of situation.

Have no friends/family bought a home or refinanced recently to get someone who is recommended?

It is widely regarded that the Estate Agent brokers/advisors are not necessarily the most experienced and certainly not for the tricky cases so would give them a wide berth (nice as they may be)

    Best of luck

Good luck - just check terms and conditions that you only pay a fee on success or refunded if not succesful

My fear seemed to have materialised.
what does passed credit check but failed internal check mean with regarding halifax?? Have had no defaults or credit issues, buying house which is half our borrowing capacity. The only caveat is 95% mortgage.
    Still in early stages
