Hi Lilycat
Have you tested the socket. Plug a phone in and see if there is a tone.
How do you connect to the internet, wireless router?Comping 2008 wins £4842 2009 wins £950.50 2010 Wins £140 2011 £00 -

Have you plugged the Netgear wireless router in the spare room attached to your PC with the cable and everything as it was downstairs with filters on all sockets used whether downstairs or upstairs
if the answer is Yes
Then
It looks like the BT extension socket maybe faulty, even though it works with the phone, the signal travel across is being distorted.

Try
START
RUN
TYPE IN CMD AND PRESS ENTER
DOS SCREEN will appear
you might need to renew your ip address try
type in ipconfig and see what comes up
You should see
ip address 192.168.1.100
subnet 255.255.255.0
default gateway 192.168.1.1
or similur
Anytime you have a router prob always power down the router wait 10 plus seconds and switch on this can also renew your ip address
have you looked in
START
SETTING
NETWORK CONNECTIONS
To check if the connection is showing, right mouse click on icon and try repairBe ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -

Switching the router on and off will do this no need to do all that, that will pic k up a new ip adress. my hunch is possible dodgy socket or not filtered.0

Switching the router on and of normally works but you do need to manually run ipconfig sometimes.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0
