ACMON Error Failed to prepare Critical file! Chameleon Engine out of service!

a call the techies out there who always come to my rescue, for which i am very grateful.
i get the above message on my laptop asus k52f
please advise regarding this, i have googled but there are so many differing versions as to how to rectify this.
btw, does this have something to do with the in-built camera as well, as that doesn't seem to be functioning as well.
