PPI letter from RBS

I have received a letter today from RBS saying I may have been Mis-sold PPI.
It goes on to list a total of 8 loans from 1998 to 2009.
I have never looked into claiming before as I thought you could only go back 6 years and I have no paperwork for any of these (I obviously should have spent more time on this forum).

My first loan was for debt consolidation and I remember being told that I could only get the loan if I took out PPI. The next loan incorporated the first and so on but I don't remember being asked on these occasions. The last loan, due to be paid in 3 months, I remember saying no to PPI but this loan is on he list too? This was also a consolidation loan paying off the one before it.

During these years I have had a period of being unemployed and a period of being self employed. On taking out the first loan I was employed.

Could anybody give any advice? Does the bank listing these 8 loans mean I have paid PPI on all of them?

How do I answer the question relating to employment status? Would this be my employment status at the time of my first loan?
And why is my latest loan on there? I remember saying no to PPI as I was self employed.

  • Banks are at present spraying out letters like there is no tomorrow to all and sundry so that they can start the clock ticking to activate time limits for claims. This will inevitably result in mistakes and it may be that one or more of your loans fall into this category.

As to your question about how to respond just answer as truthfully as possible and if you feel it would help outline your employment history.
  • So even though they have listed 8 loans, it could just be the first one I have paid PPI on? As the others were all consolidation loans could I have carried on without my knowledge?
