hiiv registered under new name due to sensitive subject. i really need advice.me and my family have recieved verbal threats and tx threats that we will come to harm due to an incident that happened a few days ago. the threats are coming from a 'friend' that has access to all our private details due to their job.i feel uneasy giving anymore details and wondered if anyone would pm me because im at my wits end.sorry if this seems strange, but if you do know anything about confidentiality in jobs especially those that involve accessing personal data.i need to know where we stand and if its worth taking the risk of informing their employers-balancing it against whats already happened.

Staff how have access to private details have their PC traces stored on PC. If they are searching for information on you as a family but their workload proves that they had no reason to this information can be used against them.
e.g. Say your "friend" works for the DSS and they are checking out your benefit information, their office can check their workload against what they have actually been researching on line.
Difficult to comment without any facts from yourself but use the authorities who are there to help you. Call their employers, call the police, call the ombudsmen for the area they are going against.0 -
Keep every text message from their whether threatening or being nice too.0

Keep the texts, keep a written account of the verbal threats, contact the police. Don't delay, they can only send you away if you don't have enough evidence, or take action to help protect you the threat is deemed to be serious.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

any repeated communication can be used to prove harassment - keep all details of verbal threats (keep a log and note down any witnesses to it) and keep all the texts if you can (if not keep a hard copy of what was said, what time etc) and contact your local police - they may take a little while to get back to you as it's a non-urgent threat but when I had a harassment problem (very petty stuff but enough incidents to be taken seriously) the police were very helpful and it ended with the offending party being given an official warning.0

If anyone uses any information that they have gained without your consent, then they are breaking your confidentiality. Report them, when my daughter was doing her nurse training she was looking after my brother, her uncle, when she came home after her shift I would ask how is uncle joe doing ? Her reply was ring up and find out, when i am looking after him he is not uncle joe , he is Mr Smith. Your so called friend is useing information that he would not be privy to if he was not in the position he was employed for.:hello:What goes around - comes around

I reported an ex-friend of mine, who worked in a bank, for disclosing my banking info to an abusive ex. The bank took it very seriously and I never once regretted it. They investigated it thoroughly and had no difficulty in tracing her accessing my account details :eek:ITV Winners Club #87 :eek:0

EVERY decent business has a computer system which audits EVERY person looking at your details whether they have modified them or not. This includes the government - council and housing etc, banks, mobile phone operators, catalogue companies, doctors, etc.
Companies take data protection VERY seriously and can be very heavily fined under the data protection act for misuse of personal information. Any member of their staff provably threatening a 'customer' will be of great interest to them - they will more than likely be removed from accessing the information asap.
Contact the police and this person's employer. If they ever did what they threaten they are breaking the law and can be prosecuted. You should never be held to ransom by anyone. Police and their employer - asap.0 -
you are saying that they are threatening you due to an incident that has already happened, obvisously this is something that has upset them in some way that they seek revenge, so what has your personal details got to do with this? unless they are threatening to use use your personal details against you? if this is the case do you actually have anything to fear with the usage of this info?
if you don't then at least that should be a weight of your mind but regardless of if it will cause you damage or not, this person is in the wrong in accessing your personal info and you must get them reported asap, you owe them nothing so shop them in now.
are you concerned that they will take things to another level at all?0 -
You should contact your local police, and ask their advice whether you should contact this company directly, as this "friend" needs to be suspended from her job immediately.
It is a criminal offence to use data in this way, and no doubt she will be sacked from her job for doing it.
Phone the police/company ASAP!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
thankyou for all you replies,i cant seem to get the thanks button to work.i contacted this person today as one of my family hav already been hurt, i wanted to see how far they would really take these threats, the police have been involved but all my family are hesitant to press or make statements due to what might happen.im sorry im not being clear but it is so messy at the moment and as my family are so caught up in it i just need to hear from neutral people.she told me herself about the fact it would show up any searches she made, its the threat itself that has really knocked my family.as i write this it seems so surreal. i cannot beleive its happening.0
