CPP Card Guard

I have signed up to the CPP Scheme but I also had Card Guard protection prior to 2005
Do I wait until the CPP Scheme is finalised and paid before I claim for the Card Guard mis-selling prior to 2005 or should I claim now

Comments

  • I had a CPP policy from 2002 and I wrote a letter to my bank last week to complain about the policy using the MSE template and they called me today, apologised and refunded me any payments made under the policy pre 2005 (plus interest). The money was in my account within minutes. So it might be worth going directly to your bank for pre 2005 refunds.

On a separate note, I hadn't received any letters about the Redress Scheme from CPP and Barclays advised me that CPP had sent letters to the address I was at in 2005. It turns out that Barlcays had updated any change of address with CPP up to 2005, but not after this and CPP hadn't bothered to make sure addresses were up to date. Barclays are sending me the documents, but advised me to contact CPP to update my address to receive the letters and also to follow up cancelling the direct debit (which Barclays have actioned their end today). I've done this and should have the voting forms in time to return before the deadline.
  • I had CPP mis-sold to me in 2010. Even after I had cancelled the card that they debited they still managed to get charges through and because the card was cancelled, and I wasn't getting email statements, a £12 charge was being applied every month. I have paid everything because it was affecting my credit score, but how do I go after CPP for the mis-selling and Virgin MBNA for letting charges go on a closed credit card please, if anyone can help. Alex
  • Virgin MBNA are not at fault. How were they to know that you wanted to cancel the policy?
If you have a CPA on a card, the card will be reopened until YOU cancel the CPA. In the distant past this could only be done with the company CPP but now you can do this direct with your card issuer.

Go after CPP for the missell good luck with claiming everything else back from them.

Which template would I use if i wanted to make a claim? I have also found a few pre 2005 credit card statements that have card guard payments deducted.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

The poster has not returned to MSE since posting their inaugural post over a month ago.

However, in the post quoted, it is claimed the template letter provided by MSE was used.

You can find the MSE article here:
