Wow... Major embarrassment

I have just been given my account number for my E.on online account, so i set it up and was just familiarising myself with it. I came across the ''meter readings'' section so i continued to click onto it. Now here is where it gets stupid. I entered the correct electricity reading but the wrong gas reading. Me, my girlfriend and my daughter haven't even moved into the property yet and despite being told at around 4pm (now 6.23pm) by a worker at E.on that my account was at £0 it has now shot up to over £140. Is there anything i can do to rectify this very embarrassing and (potentially) costly mistake?
Please help, as i am on the sick and my girlfriend is on maternity leave so affording £140 is definitely out of the question at the minute, especially with moving house in the next 2 days.

Phone them and explain.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

yes, phone them and explain.

don't enter any further readings till you've used that amount that you've entered, but that would take a while!0 -

Hi Smithy0705
Please don't be embarrassed. You're not alone. As Jonesy88 says, this often happens.
Just let us know the correct readings and we'll put it right straightaway.
