Verified by Visa problem

Hi,
I was trying to buy tickets for a cricket match this morning on the Oval website (the tickets were available from 12 and there was a queue), when asked for my card details I entered them and then on the next page I got the verify by visa page. I normally just have to enter my password, but this box didn't have my banks logo at the top and only asked me to enter an ATM pin and expiry date. I found that suspicious and closed the window.
I cancelled my card cause I entered the details before the verification page and don't know if this was a hack or something. I'm using chrome on a mac and not sure if a hack on this computer is possible.
About an hour ago I tried entering my details again and now it comes up with the normal verfied by visa thing I get after doing most online shopping and only asks for a few digits of my password and has my bank's logo.
Has anyone had any experience with this sort of problem, and I don't know if the website had been hacked to try and get peoples details or the virus came from my mac.

How were you able to enter your card details after you cancelled it?0

I don't know it still showed up with my account name in the visa verified bit although the advisor on the phone told me my card is canceled and another is going to be sent in 7-9 days0

If you cancelled you card, how could you use the card and VbV again?
Which bank / BS has issued your card? both Lloyds and Nationwide have been doing some 'fastpath' VbV for a few months now, whereby you don't need to enter anything on the VbV dialogue box.0 -
I think you were right to be suspicious, a PIN should never be used with anything that does not read your card, certainly not entered on a website. It's not called Chip & PIN for nothing0

I'm with Santander and it will still let me access to the VbV page for some reason. Can't tell you why, but I have definitely canceled my card.
I've checked other websites and they all now just come with the usual message of enter 3 digits of passcode. I think it must have been a scam directed at the website at that particular time and I doubt I have a trojan or something since I use a mac and don't really download anything on it.0 -
It's much, much more likely that you do have something on your Mac. If you had a PC I'd recommend a scan with Malwarebytes but I don't know if there is a Mac version.0

Which logo did it have at the top? And which bank are you with? Some US banks do ask for an ATM pin (U.S. Bank for example). It could indeed be an error with the Verified by Visa website, or the retailer's website you were purchasing from. But, you're doing the correct thing by assuming the worst.0

With a Mac very unlikely to be malware, maybe a dodgie DNS server the OP is using or the website itself hacked?
Still I don't see why a hacker would care what your PIN is as they'd need the card anyway, they can't clone a card just from details you give online.0
