Norton Antivirus Question

Hi
I am thinking of getting Norton Antivirus software (Norton 360 v5 Gold Edition) which is on offer for £18.
It says the license allows you to have it on 3 PC,s.
From time to time I re-install my operating systems and I am wondering how this will affect my installation of Norton. For example, if I install it on three computers and then reformat one of the computers what will happen if I try to re-install Norton for the fourth time.
Just to clarify. I would never have Norton on more than three computers at the same time but what would happen if I had a fault on one of the computers and needed to re-install Norton for a fourth or fifth time??
Thanks for your time.

It will still work if the PC is the same, if your pc goes completely just go to mynorton remove the deceased PC and re-install on the replacement.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Thanks for the quick reply. That answers my question. So, I assume when I install Norton for the first time I will have to activate it and will receive a mynorton account.
Presumably, Norton will check the system hardware on boot-up just to ensure that the computer is the same one that it was initially installed on. If that is true then I will have no problem with Norton.
Do you happen to know whether Norton will ask for bank details when I activate the mynorton account? I would prefer to just buy the software and not enter into any financial agreements0 -
No they won't buy it wherever you get a good deal, never allow them to auto-renew , I buy mine from wherever is cheapest and enter the new key. However don't put in the new key until day zero otherwise whatever you have left on the old one is lost.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . "Auto-renew" that is what I was afraid of."
That answers my question completely. Now I will go buy.
Glad you were on the spot to help "debitcardmayhem".
Been having a few problems with my anti-virus software programs and I need something I can rely on.
Thanks for your help.0 -

I only use Norton because of Mrs DCM's employer's rules, for myself on various VM's and devices I use Avast Free which is excellent. I also have the option of Kaspersky for free because of banking with Barclays... Oh and I don't recommend using Rapport at all :rotfl:4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . When I did a total factory restore on my Dell in around 2010 with NIS on it and then re-installed NIS again post restore...the NIS servers were clever enough to know automatically that this was a re-installation of NIS on the same computer and not a "new" activation.
I've never had to enter up any financial details on mynortonaccount and I do exactly as 'debitcardmayhem' does.
It almost certainly uses some details it can get from the motherboard to track which computers its installed on. So I'd guess if a fault required a motherboard change then yes NIS might then think this is a "new" activation and you would need to remove the 'old' activation.0 -
Although quite not what your looking for I bought this recently.

A 2011 system builder version for £4.76.
What most people dont realise is that since 2010 (maybe even before) you can use Norton and then after you have registered it etc you can then update to the new version for no extra cost at all.
Ive done this 4 times now since 2009 and never paid more than £8 for a full years protection. And no I know technically your supposed to install on a new build but Norton cant tell if it is.
Hope this helps.Old Faithful we roam the range together,
