What would be the best credit card at the minute, in regards to cash back/rewards?
I don't really need 0% interest as I plan on paying it off at the end of each month.
Thanks

What "rewards" do you value? Would you be happy with Virgin Atlantic Airmiles or Hilton HHonor points? Whats good for one person doesnt necessarily work for someone else0

Cash rewards or highstreet vouchers style rewards would be best.0

If you have a decent income and can spend £2K in 3 months then Amex gold rewards card is quite good.
For £2K spend you get about £100 worth of rewards (or £90 cash) and you get that straightaway (no waiting a year).
You also get an airport lounge card with 2 free visits.
That's quite a good payback at 4.5% - 5%, but it's either £2K or nothing.
You won't get anything for spending £1999.
Only get it if you can use Amex for that £2K spend.
You need to make sure the card you get works for you and that you are fully aware of any charges, minimum spends and the value of the rewards TO YOU.0 -
It really does depend on what you want - straight up cash back cards are probably the simplest but you may get more value from a rewards card.
Amex are the biggest players in the rewards points market and their Platinum Cashback credit card is probably the best cash back card (assuming you spend enough to maximise the benefit and offset the £25 a year fee).
If you value points over cash back then easily the best deal on the market at the moment is the Amex Gold Charge card. 20,000 Amex member rewards points if you spend £2000 in the first three months. 1 points per £1 spend and double points on travel and supermarket spend. The card is free for the first year and £125 a year thereafter (most people cancel after the first year to avoid paying the fee).
20,000 Amex points can be exchanged for either a statement credit (worth I think £100) or converted to air miles or hotel points at various rates. Transfering to BA would get you 20,000 abios, good for 2 x return flights from the UK to western european destination or 1 x return flight further afield. If you don't live in London, regional connections are free of charge. Alternatively, you could convert to 60,000 club carlson (Radisson, Park Plaza etc) points, worth a few nights at cheaper hotels or one night at somewhere fancy like the Mayfair in London (usually £250-300ish a night).
The card is a charge card, not a credit card so there is no interest but you have to pay in full each month. It also doesn't have a 'hard' credit limit.
I can refer you for the Gold card if you like, you will receive an extra 2,000 points (and I receive some too!).0 -
One thing to note about credit ards with a rewards program is they come with higher interest rates and/or annual fees. For this reason, do your research first, and make sure once you do get the card, you maximize the benefit and pay off the balance each month. For example, don't use the rewards points to book a trip during low season when prices tend to be lower.0
