Manufacturers dangerous fault - were do you stand with an older vehicle?

Kia UK would probably contribute if it was imported, supplied and serviced through their network.
As it is a grey import, it wasn't to UK spec, wasn't supplied by the official importer, and may not have been serviced within the UK dealer network either. Cyprus might be within the EU, so sueing Kia Cyprus might be an option if you're a very determined EU citizen.
I'd say you're just as likely to get Ford or VW UK to foot the bill. Sorry!
Apart from anything else, it's 7 years old and well out of any warranty that even an official UK car would have had from new.0 -
I think it is scandalous such an old fault is rearing its head on such a relatively new car. I don't think there will be any redress from Kia because of its history. The only long-term, proper options are replacing the tank or removing it and sealing it with something like Frost POR15 and flushing the fuel lines to remove debris.0

Give VOSA a ring, when they get dangerous faults they sometimes arrange with the manufacturer that they fix them as an alternative to forcing a recall.
If this is the case then they will put pressure on Kia to sort it out0 -
If the issue the flakes are clogging the filter or the pump?
Flushing the tank and fitting a new filter should sort it out until the rest starts to flake. But how much is a new tank?
Sounds like Kia are sorting it out, But just not for the OPs car because its not a UK one. Take it up with the importer/dealer that sold it?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I did a quick google, it appears Kia were replacing the fuel tank for free prior to 2012, since then, nothing.
