Income protection insurance

Options
Is this a good idea? I'm currently working and it's all going a bit flat, had to accept a wage decrease as a case of 'take it or not work' scenario. Don't want to really be left with nothing if it does all go wrong but also don't want to be paying out £30 a month for something that in the long run might not be a viable option.
Has anyone else had experience of this or taken out a policy that wasn't as expected.

You have already been told things aren't going so well, so I think the insurer will use this to avoid paying out.

Everything is on target but not increasing, the MD doesn't seem to give a monkeys about moving things forward. I can't see anything actually happening so was seeing if it's worth having the protection, better safe than sorry.
