I have a some VHS videos I would like to transfer to DVD. I have video player/recorder and a DVD player/ recorder, which apparently can record to hard drive or DVD-R.
I haven´t got a clue how to do the transfer, but I suppose you can connect the 2 machines together somehow....but how..which cables go where...is it better to transfer to hard disc on DVD or to DVD-R, do either of the machines need to be connected to TV while transfer is taking place. Will someone please explain the procedure in non-technical words of one syllable . thanx

Hi Sandy
Yes I have done exactly this myself. I simply ran a SCART lead from the VHS recorder to the input SCART socket on my hard disk/DVD recorder, pressed play on the VHS and record on the DVD. You should be able to record direct to DVD but it might be safer to record to hard disk and then to DVD in case of any problems, and then you can edit if required, and burn more than one DVD. The TV does not need to be on.
Hope this helps.0 -
Thanks, will give it a try at the week end, when I have more time to 'play'. Didn't realise I'd be able to edit stuff as well, so will need simple instructions for that please.
Let you know how I get on0 -
My DVD recorder is a Lite-On. The editing is pretty basic, so it just lets me remove unwanted portions of video, and merge recordings together. Yours may be different?0
