Hi
I am picking up a new car from the dealer tomorrow but they have just said I need my insurance details... I got my insurance today but it will be a week before the documents come through!!
Can I take a 1 day insurance out just to pick up the car? It says on these websites that this cannot be used to purchase road tax.... but does the dealer already have these?
Very confused!!
Is there any way I can get my car tomorrow... cant face walking everywhere for another week!!
Thank you for your help!!

This happened to us, we needed to pick up our new car but the dealer needed the insurance cover note, which would take up to a week to arrive. We asked if there was any alternative but sadly there wasn't, so we phoned the insurance company and persuaded them to fast track it, arrived two days later.0

hi,
try norwich union short term insurance, it let you do 1-28 days or until your doc's arrive..
here's link..

They rang me a week ago to say the car would be a week and never mentioned then we would need a cover note. They did say that they offer 7 days free insurance but when I rang the free insurance company they said that they could not insure me as I was under 30.
Why can they accept this but then not accept one that I can get online such as the norwich one for the day to say that I can drive it away?
Why does the dealer need that document? Do they go to the post office to buy your tax?
Im really annoyed that they left it till tonight to tell me.... my lovely shiny new car is waiting for me...
