Thanks, I have - my dictionary says its a US spelling.
BTW 'British English' is an americanism as well.'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0 -
no offense to indian markers but multiple choice tests have been mentioned, wouldn't it be even more cost effective to have them read and marked by a computer? maths tests could be marked abroad, easy to see if the answer is correct or not and i'd imagine the marker could also work out if the correct methods had been used if the answer is wrong but there are some marks for working out.52% tight0

If we in our own country can't mark exam papers properly, then I'm all for sending them abroad (electronically).
I had a nightmare with A2 Papers being incorrectly marked by AQA (in THIS country) by some incompetent nutter who slashed 12 marks off a paper and almost cost me my place at University.
I am all for it. I have visited India and have absolutely no concern about the standard of education out there. They'll overtake us very, very soon. All some people in this country are bothered about is alcohol, nightclubs and other associated activities. There is NO income support in India so there is an incentive to study.0
