Has anyone heard of the company V5C.com? I thought the DVLA had outsourced the processing following the closure of all thier offices in the UK. No this company charge you £35 just to send you a form. I thought it was the DVLA processing fee. Can I claim my money back under the distance selling regulations as it is obviously a con.

  • All that's on that website are three pictures of houses and one blue box.

It is quite legal I'm afraid so you can try, but you had better be quick about it. Some have managed to recover their money.

Also, many of this kind of operation turn-out to be quartered in countries with a very lax concept of data security, so your financial details may already be being abused. So informing your bank of a potential for fraud and changing all your numbers might also be in order.

More info on how to go about claiming back in the health, family and travel forums as this has been a common way of exploiting those looking to get EH1C forms, birth certs and driving licenses but now they have expanded to other things.

    The site is https://www.v5c.uk.com

On the homepage, it does say in large letters: "A convenient online application taking the stress out of form filling, ensuring your application is free from errors and checked before you send it to the DVLA." I've underlined the big clue.

The text under "Why use us?" sets out exactly what they will do, so if you want to pay £35 for that, that's your call. Caveat emptor.
  • Looks like another site from our old chums at Caveat Viator Limited.
