Am buying a flat and need to choose between a personal and a local authority searches. What are the benefits and drawbacks of each?
Thanks!

Personal search has no legal come back if, say, the LA give wrong/misleading information.
Personal search will not be acceptable to a mortgage lender if you have one.
Personal search will be quicker/cheaper.0 -

Ha! The solicitor tells me the personal search they are using is good for a lender.
You mention legal come backs. What disputes may arise in case of a leasehold that I should be aware of?0 -
Well if the lender is happy that removes one problem.
The search will not show anything related to the lease.
This may help,or check any council website,or google 'property searches':
