This is a lost cause.

a) it was (almost certainly) verbal, so hard to prove, + the words used may have been ambiguous (eg if the agent inserted the word "probobly" in the sentence), or the agent may have said "As things stand at present, the landlord intends....."

b) The verbal statement would have been over-ruled by the subsequent signing of the 12 month tenancy agreement.
