Xmas Gift Help! - Veg Seeds?
Hi all,
My parents have recently moved house and they now have a lovely big garden. My mum plans to turn some of it into a 'kitchen garden' and begin to grow her own veg, so I thought it would be nice to buy her bits and pieces to help for xmas.
She has some experience as she used to grow a few things when we were growing up but not a great deal.
I saw this kit which would give her 13 packs of popular seeds and a free propogator. Is that a good deal? I saw a lovely seed tin on the Suttons website but all the seeds are sold separately and I'd have no idea what to get (and they are expensive!)
I have no idea about growing veg so will she need a propogator? They are planning to refurb the greenhouse that was in the garden but it has no glass in it at the moment so I guess most things will need to be started off indoors?
Interested in your views and suggestions
Thanks,
Kevin

Seems OK, runner beans would benefit from starting indoors for example. Others like carrot need to be sown where they'll grow.
The variety of seeds are a bit 'worthy' - radish, leeks, carrots, beetroot etc. May be better checking if your mum is thinking more about herbs, strawberries etc. Root veg. is often just as cheap from Aldi.My parents have recently moved house and they now have a lovely big garden.
The old timers would say 1st crop should be potatoes to clear the ground...0 -
I would be delighted to receive the propagator and seed set. Also look in Wilko's if you have one nearby - they have nice seed collections in there and they are fantastic value.
Skint but happy with my lovely family
Hypnotherapy rocks :j0
