Hi,
I know which company I want to do the survey for my house purchase.
How do I go about arranging an appointment for them to inspect the property,do I just contact the EA and get them to liase with the surveyors?

No, you get the surveyors to arrange an appointment via the EA's. (well that's how mine was done)"I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0

Hi Shambler
I presume then that you are a cash buyer? I only say this as it is the norm that your mortgage co sort it out ie it has to be a company they approve of. But in answer to your question the surveyor informs the EA who then gives them the number of the people selling the house so that the surveyor can make phone call to arrange a suitable time.0 -
If you are requiring a mortgage for this purchase, then the lender in question will only accept the surveyors comments if they are on their approved panel. Hence you could escape paying the mortgage Valuaion Fee, aswell as the surveyors fee.
If you require a mortgage and your chosen surveyor is not on the lenders approved panel, you incur both fees.
It's important to remember a Mortgage Valuation Report is only a basic report and it's done for the sole purpose of assessing security for the lender.
So if your cautious and want as much 'peace of mind' as possible, the Full Structual Report is the best option...

Thanks for the info all.
My mortgage came with a free valuation but I have been advised by my solicitor to get my own survey done for peace of mind.0
