One other... Remember there's no windows aft of the doors. So, when you pull up at an angled junction, try to do so as square as possible - especially when the narrow angle is on the left hand side.

Of course it's not the "fault". But failing to look before turning is what causes the collision. Both road users would be at fault. Either could have avoided it.
But, please, the "car vs cyclist" war is getting VERY dull over the last few weeks.0 -

I think the van is a Transit LWB or jumbo
Hopefully you will know the size of either of these vans.
Thanks so far everyone for the useful advice, been given for the transformation from car to van
Keep them coming
Just be wary of turning left and not mounting the kerb. That is the single most common mistake. As this is a hire van I think you said, check the near-side rear tyre and wheel closely for any signs of pre-existing damage, before you accept it.
Make sure the mirrors are adjusted so that you can see the rear wheels on both left and right sides and have a few slow practice turns on a quiet industrial estate or somewhere like that, before you venture into heavy traffic.
Take things easy and give your self plenty of space.
If in doubt manoeuvring / reversing don't be embarrassed to get someone to guide you backwards.
Enjoy the experience.

Make sure you have a copy of The Sun and at least 5 McDs wrappers on top of the dash at all times.0
