How long to change and get money back

Options
I applied to change from Scottish Power to Npower via the Cheap energy club on 7/8/13 and my change finally concluded on 8/11/2013. 3 months is ridiculous. I am still owed over £300 from Scottish Power and have emailed them, as I cannot get anyone on the phone, to find out when I am getting my money. I have tried to contact Npower about my new account at least 10 times and have had various messages of delays to speak to a human being of between 12 and 40 minutes and have given up after25 minutes. I phoned their complaints line and was told to expect a delay of between 20 and 30 minutes. I emailed them and have not had a reply yet.
So beware when changing as it is not as straightforward as it seems

Normally 4-5 weeks after you go on supply with the new provider- you've only been on 3 weeks.
You don't say if you 've received your closing bill yet, obviously no refund can be processed until that bill is generated.
The 3 months it took to switch is a separate issue.

    Hi uplawmoor

Thanks for your post. We're sorry to hear you've had some issues with your change of supply transfer and getting through to us on the telephone. We have received a high volume of calls over recent weeks which tends to happen when a supplier announces they're changing their prices.

Please may I ask what your questions were regarding. I'll be happy to answer your queries if you can send an email to the email address showing on our profile page.

Thanks being an npower customer. :)

    David :)

  • Hello I'm having the same problem, I switched from Scottish power to M&S energy on 07/10/13, I'm still waiting for my final bill, I have phoned Scottish power 3 times since, each time they say they will send me a final bill, but it does not arrive, they won't give me a final figure on the phone, this is because they owe my a refund of about £45, because of credit I had in my account, luckly I have a saved page of my online account showing how much I was in credit before I was locked out of my account by Scottish power, ENERGY firms are ripping us off, I'm sure its against the law, scottish power are stealing our money and getting away with it
  • I've been waiting 10 weeks for my refund from Scottish Power and am told it will be another 5 to 10 working days having been told 5 to 7 working days on 20th December! I will never go back to them even if they are the cheapest!
