Standing Charges
Options
It's a bee in my bonnet. There was a chap on You&Yours who lives on bottled water rather than pay his £2 bill plus £14 standing charge. Standing charges dump the weight of the cost on the poor and on the low user, both in direct contradiction of the policies of the major parties. Yet none of the parties will even discuss the issue, let alone promise to abolish them. Professor John Ashton issued a report only last week (Nov 1913) detailing the evil effects of SCs, it was buried by the media. Ofgem has ordered the restoration of SCs in the interest of making bills 'simpler', though not cheaper. How can we get SCs abolished? Any ideas?

I am in favour of standing charges. You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0
