Hmmm - Being on any suppliers 'Standard' tariff is bad news.
From your post it seems you have at least one years useage history with both suppliers - Look at the bills and the later one's should show how many Kwh of Gas /Elec you used over the last 12 months. If these figures are not on the bills phone BG & n'power and ask.
When you have them, punch annual Kwh useages into at least 2 Switch sites to get the prices from other suppliers
Fortnightly Cash payments is not the best way to pay the bills, most suppliers give a discount for monthly Direct Debit payment with further discounts if you opt for Online Billing
Your £20 a week to BG totals £1040, which easily covers the £923 annual bill.
However your £15 a week to n'power for Electric totals only £780, which is doesn't quite cover the £799 annual cost, BUT all the annual figures you quote are based on forecasts and most suppliers tend to over estimate when doing these figures0 -
Standard tariff is always the most expensive variable...No free lunch, and no free laptop
