£45 for an old motorbike jacket that had been gathering dust, grime and grease in the garage for the past 30 years.

How's about when I went with a mate to a garage that was closing down and spotted a sexy looking set of alloys (in need of some slight TLC) in the corner. I enquired - wanted £40, I offered £30 as I wasn't sure they'd fit my car. ;) (I knew they wouldn't anyway) and when I got them later realised they were GENUINE Saab 9-3/9-5 Viggen alloys and quite rare. So even in a slightly tatty state, I got £280 + p&p for them on ebay. Thats almost 1000% profit... [fast show] which was nice!

My only other good find was when I got some bulk vids for about 45/50p a set and spotted some London's Burning tapes in there, eight of them I think. Had a look on ebay - NO Londons buring at all, so put them on at 99p, and ended up them selling for £30! I made that about £26 profit on roughly £4 cost, so not quite up to the %% margin of the Saab wheels, but good all the same. :D

Wish I could find more like that - but often its just a case of being in the right place at the right time, like with the wheels (just lending a hand removing a two post lift he had bought from the closing down garage. ;) )

Buy a Skoda. Laugh at the VWs who paid several grand more
Its a diesel. 50mpg - laugh at all the petrols
Its a tuned 260bhp diesel - laugh at them in the rearview mirror as they vanish

It's not a bad profit for standing outside Dixons for half an hour before it opened with some birthday cash then grabbing a couple of crates of filters, spending an hour while the manager put them through one at a time while discounting them about ten times each,!! 50p each, and he enjoyed doing this, I wonder why ???? , woh! was I going home with a smile on my face , most of them were circ.. polarizing filters retailing for about £25 - £40 each. My wife thought I was crazy when she saw them, I think she feels better after spending most of the profit !!!

I was just wondering what is the most anyone has made from any one item they've sold on Ebay. Also what is your average? I think the most I made was £10 from a dvd boxset. I bought it cheap in a sale from one website and sold it for £10 more on Ebay. On average though Ive only managed a couple of quid per item as I haven't sold that much on Ebay.

my mum went to a proper auction and bought a box of toys. She found an old c1910 french doll at the bottom of the box......she didnt pay a penny for it....valued by bonhams at 80-120...i sold it for he for £152.....though the previous (& first) week it didnt reach £50!

bought 50 nokia 7600's from amazon for £2K and sold them in 4 weeks for a profit of approx £2K...huge gamble though!

I went to an auction not so long ago and bought an old practika camera kit for £8....the regular muppets though id got a raw deal and were quite smug.....well 2 weeks later their jaws dropped when i told them that id sold the camera kit for £25 and the flash unit (rare amd in mint cond) for £28......that shut them up!! There are some right k**bs who go to these auctions who think that if you are new you no nothing, when its probably the other way round....just we use technology you muppets!
