Employment credit checks!

So, now I'm panicking, I've just been offered a new job, I just checked my credit file, and no surprise my current score is 'poor'. Anyway, then it dawned on me my new employer will probably run a credit check! Is this going to cost me my dream job? I have no defaults, CCJs, or anything like that, just the big sum of debt and searches where I was trying to get everything sorted and moved to 0% credit cards! I have not missed a payment on anything in the last 6 yrs. what do they check, is it just CCJs, defaults, IVAs etc or do they dig further?? It's not a role with any financial responsibility and the company is an insurance broker, it's a head office position. Any thoughts??

For my employer it is a check against CCJ's and bankruptcy. I had a fair bit of debt and worry when I took my position however all turned out to be ok. Good luck.0

I recently considered working in insurance sales for a small broker, I wouldn't worry to much, all the form on 1st day asked me about was involvement in fraud <by far THE BIGGIE, bankruptcy followed by CCJ's question was a tick box exercise, I declared my now completed DRO and was still able to work there, made me laugh, insurance policy holders aren't checked until they need to make a claim - now there's a big flaw!
Wasn't for me working in insurance, all the hollier then thou got to me - apparently it is something you gel with quickly if you'll like it
Good luck, I think your worrying over nothing, they should really let you know and make it clear if they want to run a credit check, they have to obtain your permission so you should know, the bigger the broker name the MORE stricter I imagine x0 -
Thank you, I'm feeling a bit better! I know I won't rest until it's all be done one way or the other!!0

So quick update, spoke to the agency about my concerns and it turns out i won't be having a credit check, if they require one a clause is written into the contract of employment along with a separate form to sign, which I don't have! Phew! I still won't be 100% relieved until it's all official!!!0
