Gov Energy Gift Joke _ Dual Fuel Discount Removed!

Options
EDF just grabbed back our dual fuel discount yesterday £8.40 - disgusted !! Coincidence Mr Cameron? I think not!! Must think voters are sheep to fall for that laughably tiny election bribe. Compared to our rocketing bills its a joke and PS it was actually the lib dems who pushed for the green levies! All because Con vote share is lowest ever this morning - they have been eight behind for months and have already lost Corby and probs Thanet South, this energy thing will lose them the election and thyre trying to buy us off! Will be ringing EDF today to talk to their press officer! Update later!

The edf Head of Media Relations (an alumnus of a fine university) has far better things to do with his Sunday mornings I'm sure.

Knee-jerk stupid reaction - equalising discounts between fuels means you have more freedom and better chances of a cheaper deal through having each fuel on different tariffs with separate suppliers. Shifting a 6% discount from a dual-fuel discount to a direct debit discount off each separate fuel is beneficial to most.

I am certainly not a fan of many of the reforms and restructures - but deprecating dual fuel incentives is not a bad thing.

actually when i spoke to them about changing our meters, they themselves gave me the number! High stakes for them too.

What you actually mean is that you have switched to a new EDF tariff which does not offer a dual fuel discount? How is that 'grabbed back'? Did you not bother to read the T&C's before you signed up?
All the comp site calculations will take this factor into account. What matters is the annual cost, not whether a dual fuel discount is offered or not.
EDF have been withdrawing this on all their new fixes for some time now, so your conspiracy theory hardly adds up.

Another reason to get rid of dual fuel discounts and move them to individual discounts - why should I pay more for electricity when I don't have a gas supply to my property and therefore can't take advantage of dual fuel tariffs?

this energy thing will lose them the election

It likely will if you are a representative of the electorate. I expect the "never let facts get in the way" party will make substantial gains.
