There's an LG help center, dunno the phone number but I found them very helpful when I had a problem with optical sound. It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0

You need to use a external hard drive with it's own power supply. USB memory stick's often don't work with Smart TV's.0

In the meantime is there anyone else out there who has an LG tv and uses one of thse? Please can you tell me what stick you are actually using please?
Many thanks.
I have an LG TV I'm using a external drive. Forget about using USB sticks, buy a cheap external USB drive instead.
Their should be one or two of the USB ports on the TV marked for "H.D.D." just plug the drive in there and go to the DVR settings and run through initialization.Laters

I don't believe all this talk of 90GB memory sticks. Few flash memory devices in common use are larger than 32GB and there are no sizes between 64GB and 128Gb, both of which are disproportionately expensive.0

Our TV is Samsung, not LG, but I would have thought the USB interfaces would be pretty standard. I just used my portable hard drive to show a few pictures on my TV the other night (stills) with no problem at all.
I personally would think it would be a good idea to go with an external hard drive, then you can keep programmes you record too.
Does it not say anywhere in the instructions what you need, or is there a help button anywhere? What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Just bought an LG smart tv and having TM issues as well.
I've been onto support who have said that the external HDD used needs to be externally powered as the TV is using low power USB port. This I have still to try.
Sounds like some people have got this working with USB sticks. But I have not had success with this.
With an ext HDD USB powered, when i choose time machine on the TV it just fades to black and back to the TV.
Have ordered a Y USB cable to use 2 USB ports for additional power to try will report back as this seems to be a common question and theres no clear mention of the HDD requirements - namely external power required... but we'll see. External power is a big negative for me.
Hope this helps.
