I've just broken the households granite/stone one, namely the pestle and i don't know how but i got the feeling that it must have been fragile anyway........!
So i'm thinking metal. I can weld. Steel holds no fears, but wood and stone are a no no from now on.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Buy 2 new ones - then you'll always have a spare.
On a serious note, get a cast iron one - just don't go dropping it on any tiled floors.0 -
