Freezer in my garage

Looking for a freezer suitable to have in my garage, and I gather not all are suitable because they can't withstand the cold (:D). Can anyone recommend a particular make that will be fine in the cold?
Looking for an upright model rather than a chest freezer.
Many thanks

We had to buy a Beko that can take -15%.
It was about £320 from Currys a couple of years ago.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

I've had freezers in my garage for years and to be honest have never checked to see if they are suitable. Normally replaced every 5 to 10 years. Will have a look next time.0

I've had a chest freezer in my garage for years without any problem - 2 years ago I bought a fridge freezer for the garage and unfortunately once the temperature drops in the garage both the fridge and freezer warm up so have to be turned off:mad: until the outside temperature rises.
I had an repairman come last year in case it was the machine's problem but he said that because it took in warm air to make it cold the reverse happens when it is cold - but this is because it is 'the wrong sort of fridge freezer'.
So when I replace this I will definitely research it more and will be very interested to see what other responses you get on here have to say.....0 -
We have a Smeg fridge freezer and at our last house it in was in the conservatory (used as our breakfast room), there not being space for it in the adjoining kitchen. We found that when the temperature dropped, everything in the freezer started to defrost. I wasn't aware at the time that you could get freezers more suited to storage in colder spaces tbhMortgage-free for fourteen years!

Must admit it wasn't something I would have thought of, but I read some on line reviews (of an Indesit) and it did say something along the lines that it wouldn't be any good in a garage.
Looks like I'll have a look at some Bekos then!
Thanks for your help.0 -
If it's a freezer only then you should be ok with any really, problems arise with fridge freezers due to the way they control temperatures.0

Actually it was a fridge freezer. We had had an 'ordinary' fridge freezer, bought to replace a chest, and better value.
However, it used to defrost itself regularly.
OP, if you just want a chest, most makes will be fine.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

If it's cold enough outside for a freezer to warm up....any freezer & remote controlled plug, switch the !!!!!! off when it is too cold for it to operate...win win win!0
