Barclays 97, SAR only goes back to 2004

Hello,
I have put in a SAR with Barclays relating to my credit card which I took out in March 1997. The statements they have given me only go back to 2004 (by which point I had removed PPI), and I have a feeling I am on a hiding to nothing, trying to prove that they have statements going further back than that. However...
They have sent me a copy of my Barclaycard application form where I had ticked the box saying Payment Protection Plan. At the time, I was 19, living with my parents, and making £2200 a year - so I feel there is a good chance that the policy was mis-sold.
So I have evidence that I DID have a policy with my credit card for a while, but no evidence of how much I actually paid. Does anybody have any suggestions? Is there a precedent for this?
thanks in advance,
Mark

Barclaycard are well known for destroying old data after 6 years. As they are allowed to do.Is there a precedent for this?
With loans, if your complaint is upheld, then they need to recreate based on historical data. With credit cards though they are only required to refund what was proven to be paid. If they dont have statements then they have to use your record. If neither have records then they dont have to refund anything.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Your age and your parents have nothing to do with it.
And earning that in 1997 means you did have a need.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
