best flea and worm treatments?

Hi,
I have 3 cats and regularly use spot on treatments (either frontline or fiproline) and they don't seem to be working, and worming tablets (although the last time I tried the worming paste which has proven to be less than useless with them having worms again a couple of weeks later).

Can anyone recommend the best stuff to use as I feel we are fighting a constant battle with fleas and worms.

Thanks

  • You can buy Advantage for fleas, and Drontal for worms without prescription. Both are effective
Your vet can prescribe Advocate (fleas and worms ) or Activyl for fleas, and Milbemax for worms.
You really need to use an effective household spray too though, this is a good product and the site explains why it can take time to clear an infestation.

paddypaws, that's interesting to see step 5 - about the vibrations & warmth from the vacuum cleaner stimulate the adult flea to emerge from a pupal state - didn't know that

What kind of spray did you buy?
The best (as far as I know) is Indorex, or the RIP I mentioned above.

I actually prefer to use Acclaim and recommend that to all clients. Indorex is good but leaves a sticky residue on carpets and soft furnishings.

If you don't feel confident administering tablets to your cat then you can buy spot-on wormer called Profender. You can buy it online at vetuk.co.uk

We had a major flea infestation recently (9 cats) - got Advantage drops and Indorex spray from Amazon, and it was sorted within 24 hours. Brilliant stuff.

I use advantage for fleas, drontal for worms and indorex for the house.

The only time we had fleas was when I forgot to treat after 4 weeks, I treated and the issue was solved within a few days.

Everything I use can be brought online without prescription.
