tax rebate holding up inheritance?

Hi all,

I just wondered if anyone has ever been through this aswell..

My great aunt died leaving everything between 6 of us. The solicitor lead us to believe everything was sorted and as soon as the house sold it would all be finished with. The house sale completed on 18th May 07, my great Aunt died the August before.

Solicitor said it would be done the following Mon/Tues of the house sale, but then told us that the shares were not yet sold so was waiting for that and it would be the end of June...last week she told my Mum we would have cheques by the of this week. She then says today she is waiting for a £364 tax rebate and doesn't know when it will be??

I hope we dont sound like 'we want the money NOW' kind of thing, it just all seems so odd for the solicitor to be constantly saying it wil lbe this date etc, but then something else comes up..

Any ideas?

And god only knows how long the tax rebate will be!

Thanks

To be fair people's affairs are often messy and things keep cropping up just when you thought it was all sorted - often a dividend cheque arrives and you realise there is a shareholding no-one knew about or a life policy comes to light.

The Revenue are normally pretty good on refunds - I'd give it a fortnight max and then start asking questions. Oh and given the amount of time they've had the completion funds - check they've given you interest on it at a reasonable rate!
